Falling nutrients – good out of old – leafmould

Sussex landscaping - leaves fallenPut all the effort of clearing those falling autumn leaves to some good use by making your own biodegradable mulches using leafmould. These break down gradually to release nutrients in the soil and help improve its structure. One simple way to do this is to place fallen leaves in a bin liner, moisten if dry, pierce holes in the bag and tie loosely at the top. Most leafmould forms within two years – Easy!
