Grass Elegance…

RHS Wisley garden planting borderThis week we visited the RHS garden at Wisley and had the benefit of the stunning herbaceous border planting, a truly breathtaking way to see the final late summer flowers…. the simply planted Verbena and Cosmos border was stunning, particularly beautiful with the sun shining through …. But the show stopper without doubt were the Glasshouse borders, two deep gardens that flank the central grass area leading from the highest point in Wisley down to the Glasshouse, designed by influential Dutch designer Piet Oudolf, they are 147m long, 11m wide and planted with 16,000 perennials and grasses – an extraordinary garden. To see grass in all its diversity planted on such a large scale really highlighted its elegance, versatility and natural beauty…well worth a visit.
