Chill was on and the Chard was out….

This weekend the chill factor was high, both in terms of the temperature and our moods…. so we kept it local and went for a short walk in our brilliant local allotment in Nevill, Lewes…with the South Downs looking in, it’s a lovely place to go for a wander while ‘in wonder’ at the talents of the growers. Lots of soil to be seen at this time of year and lots of bare stalks waiting to awaken and delight us in spring, but the winners of the patch were the hardy rainbow chard; it was great to see such vibrant colour contrasting with their deep rich soil frame. Found a lovely sounding Rainbow chard Christmas Recipe for a light Christmas side dish – nothing beats home grown.
