Curved Garden

This garden design celebrated curves and natural flow. Sixty existing square metres of  yorkstone from site were re-purposed into sweeping generous crazy paving pathways that wind gracefully through the garden, which is bordered by mature trees and shrubs. Curved lawns edged on one side with paths and on the other with deep planting beds add structure and softness. All paths converge at the heart of the garden, a beautiful circular wildlife pond that serves as a central, tranquil feature. Designed for views from every window of the house and from the top of an outdoor spiral staircase, this garden offers shaded and sunny seating spots around the pond. Our clients and the designer are thrilled with how it turned out, creating a peaceful, inviting space for year-round enjoyment.

Simon contacted me regularly with updated progress reports and visit requests when needed, and if we did alter minor details during the build, we worked out alternative solutions together to achieve the installation goal, always keeping the integrity of the original design. Site was always kept tidy and the team worked hard, quickly and efficiently. They were always on time and were friendly and respectful to my client too, Another excellent result! This garden, designed by Carol Whitehead, draws inspiration from the beauty of Giverny, France, blending water and lush planting to capture its essence. A pre-existing weeping willow gracefully complements a carefully positioned wildlife pond, creating an enchanting focal point reminiscent of Monet’s famous garden. Responding to the clients’ desire for vertical interest, Carol commissioned blacksmith Belinda Ferretter to craft a bespoke metal arbour, set beside the pond. This arbour casts beautiful reflections in the water, offering a tranquil viewing spot from all angles. Two artisan benches allow the clients to relax and soak up the pond’s peaceful surroundings. Richly planted borders feature multi-stemmed deciduous trees, shrubs, and pollinator-friendly plants, encouraging wildlife to thrive both in the beds and around the water feature. This serene and inviting space beautifully reflects the clients’ vision, making it a cherished garden retreat for them to enjoy year-round.
