Sussex Nature Garden

This multi-level garden is part of an ongoing phased project built by Simon Scott Landscaping and designed by Bo Cook Landscape and Garden Design. In these initial stages, we have constructed several areas of the garden, including a striking retaining wall constructed with vande moortel bricks, which will support a raised area for a future swimming pool. Groundworks were undertaken to hold rainwater tanks to help future-proof the site. A bespoke feature oak pergola was built to provide shade for the outdoor kitchen area. Beautiful hard landscaping materials were installed on this project including limestone paving, oak decking, vande moortel pavers, feature boulders, including boulder steps and stepping stones around the pond area which leads to a bountiful raised kitchen garden, with greenhouse, raised oak beds surrounded by breedon gravel hard surface. Deep perennial borders are connected by hardscape as well as lawns and soft pathways mown into wildflower meadow areas. Many relaxing seating areas surround the property, including the kitchen garden, pond and decking area, entertaining terrace, outdoor kitchen and shade garden. they provide a space to play as well as pause, allowing our clients many opportunities to take in the beautiful views and vistas of the landscape. Elegant, stylish furniture works seamlessly within the space and complements Bo’s design beautifully. We are looking forward to completing the further areas of the garden in the upcoming year, to include expansion of the kitchen garden and the arrival and front lawn area.

Bo Cook’s design responded to the needs of a three-generation family, creating a garden that works on a number of levels. It has beautiful spaces for growing, entertaining, play and relaxing. The existing pond was reshaped and has been planted with oxygenating and marginal species to support wildlife, creating a central natural water feature. Sweeping wildflower meadows, generous perennial borders provide year-round colour, texture, and wide ranging ecological value. Carefully selected multi-stemmed trees and evergreen focal points add structure and seasonal interest throughout. The garden had to work hard on a number of levels and as well as the multiple seating areas, Bo’s design includes productive growing spaces, flexible lawn areas for play and gatherings, and plenty of quieter corners to enjoy the garden and its all absorbing wildlife diversity. Perfect for our nature loving clients.
