Large Town Garden Oasis

This large Brighton town garden was redesigned to complement a new kitchen extension, incorporating areas for both relaxation and sustainability. Key features include a large kitchen garden for home-grown produce, a generous formal lawn, a shaded sundowner terrace, and an expansive entertaining terrace. The garden included two water features. A circular fishing pond which nods to the original garden, while a wildlife pond, accessible via a tree-lined clay paver path, brings nature closer. Wide doors from the main sitting room open onto circular pathways and perennial planting beds to be enjoyed from inside and out. These pathways lead to a terrace for fireside gatherings and dining. A cosy terrace off the kitchen offers a peaceful spot for sun drenched morning coffee. Our lovely clients were delighted with the results.

For this stunning garden redesign, the clients were fortunate to work with their friend and multi-award-winning garden designer, creating a space that is beautiful from every angle, whether viewed from within the garden itself, through windows, or from above. Material choices harmonised the old and new, with Vande Moortel clay pavers bringing a warm, organic tone that complements the original brick wall. Contemporary sawn Yorkstone paving seamlessly connects with the modern sections of the property. Oak-raised sleepers and a large Gabriel greenhouse defines the kitchen garden, providing ample space for growing your own. Mature trees were planted on raised banks at the garden’s rear, adding winter interest and natural screening. Soft Breedon self-binding gravel pathways add to the mix of high-quality landscaping materials used in this project. Deep, layered borders filled with perennials, evergreens, and feature shrubs ensure year-round seasonal interest. This garden was a true pleasure to bring to life.
